"Little Shop of Horrors" Opening Night - October 31 - 7:00 pm

Act II's highly-anticipated musical, Little Shop of Horrors, opens on October 31 at 7:00 pm. As of this time, the Opening Night show is almost sold out, and it is destined to be the "hit" of the season! Directed by Alfonso Lopez, this show features some of Vallarta's favorite actors, as well as a fabulous return to the stage of Act II's Managing Partner, Danny Mininni, in the hilarious role of "Mr. Munchnik." This uproariously funny show is not to be missed!

Sunday, September 30, marked the thrilling television debut of Vallarta's very own Diana Villamonte when she became a contestant on La Voz Mexico 2018 (The Voice of Mexico)! This vocal competition is being filmed in Mexico City, and this tiny musical dynamo captivated the hearts of all four coaches, who each begged to work with her! She certainly makes a huge impression everywhere she goes, and La Voz Mexico is certain to catapult Diana to international stardom.

Act II is very excited that Diana, star of its two huge, blockbuster shows last season, "Motown and Beyond" and "Simply the Best, a Tribute to Tina Turner," will be returning to The Red Room Cabaret again this season! This fabulous and talented young lady has become the queen of musical entertainment here in Puerto Vallarta. In addition to her ever-popular "Motown and Beyond," Diana will present a brand-new show, "I Will Always Love You," a tribute to the legendary Whitney Houston.

To celebrate her television debut, Diana will be previewing her new Whitney Houston show on Fridays, October 19 and 26 at 7:30 pm. In addition to singing lots of new Whitney Houston songs, Diana will also "look back" to her shows from last year and will sing some audience-favorites, which are also featured on her highly-anticipated, brand-new CD, "Motown and Beyond!" This cult classic was one of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows and has become a household name thanks to a highly successful film version and a fantastic musical score! For the past 30 years, people just can't get the catchy music out of their heads!

Directed by Alfonso López, the uber-talented director of "Rocky Horror" last year, this beloved horror/comedy/rock/musical is another first-class production at Act II and brings back the sounds and ambiance of the rock 'n' roll era. Diana Villamonte, Panamanian beauty and TV Star, has taken Puerto Vallarta by storm! Last year, she presented the #1 show in Puerto Vallarta, "Motown and Beyond." Her show sold out every night and was such a smashing success that, mid-season, we asked her to create a Tina Turner Tribute show! That, too, was a hit, selling out every week and breaking all box office records!

This year, we are thrilled to announce that Diana, along with director Alfonso López, has created yet ANOTHER sensational hit show, "I Will Always Love You," a musical tribute to Whitney Houston! Diana, with her powerhouse voice and infectious personality, is the perfect singer to take on the iconic Whitney (her lifelong inspiration). The highlight of Diana's show last year was when she previewed some of her Whitney Houston songs, often having most audience members in tears. Diana blew the audience away, and her fans begged for a whole show of Whitney's songs!

This tiny little gal with the powerhouse voice and infectious personality sings with such vocal power, precision and exceptional range that she has become the queen of the power ballad. Her passion and commitment to her music, as well as her rich voice, belting notes and electrifying top register will bring tears to your eyes.

Diana entered her first singing competition at age 10 and also performed in several local plays. In 2014, she won the Karaoke World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden, and was asked to participate in the Tokyo International Karaoke competition for the following two years. She sang as the "guest artist" at the competition in Singapore in 2015. Then, as a result of the notoriety she received after her karaoke successes, she was asked to star in a reality show on television in Central America. She now has a huge television fanbase! In fact, on September she made her debut as a contestant on the internationally-acclaimed TV Reality Show, La Voz Mexico 2018! Be sure to tune in on Sunday evenings and send her some good vibes! Act II's "sacrilegious" version of Nunsense, A-Men! features uproarious horseplay and side-splitting jokes that are performed by Bert Ramirez, Shawn Morgan, José Jasso, Roberto Gomez, and Al Carswell. Their repertoire changes with each performance, but these amazing vocalists (and their live band) will treat you to an unforgettable evening of music.

ABBA, with its flamboyant costumes and catchy music, is considered to be one of the top musical groups in history, having sold over 500 million albums. Steve Grand returns to the Red Room for a 3-month run this year after his extremely successful string of shows last season! 100% OF HIS SHOWS WERE SOLD OUT!! In 2013, Grand uploaded a music video to YouTube for his song, "All American Boy." It immediately went viral, and within 8 days, he had over 1,000,000 views! It tells the story of unrequited love between a young man and his heterosexual male friend. As a result, this openly gay artist was lauded as a trailblazer in the entertainment world and he has had appearances on Good Morning America, CNN, Larry King Now, and other national outlets where he has used his platform to advocate for Human Rights and LGBT Equality.

Currently, with over 18 million views on YouTube, a #3 and #10 album on The Billboard Independent Album charts, and one of the most successful Music Kickstarter Campaigns ever under his belt, Grand, an extremely handsome young man, has not only broken the rules, but has changed the game forever in singing and songwriting in the era of YouTube and Spotify. He has just released his second, highly-anticipated album, Not the End of Me, in July 2018, and has received rave reviews from the LGBTQ market, creating a vocal and enthusiastic fan base, as well as a permanent place for himself in the music industry.

Grand's songs are a living testimonial of the trials and tribulations that he experienced as he came to the realization that he was gay. The 1970's were a time of change. Television (the "Boob Tube") was still relatively new, and producers were trying to wean people away from the big screen. Variety shows became a staple of American Television. Anyone that was "someone" got their own television variety show. Think back to the time when you and your family sat in a one-television home and enjoyed the shows of Sonny & Cher, Laugh In, Smothers Brothers, Captain & Tennille, Tony Orlando & Dawn, Donny & Marie... and so many more.

These unforgettable variety shows have made an indelible impression on our hearts. We hear a familiar tune being sung by one of our favorite 70's artists and that warm, fuzzy feeling returns - we instantly recall the time and place where we first heard that song, and we find ourselves humming the tune and can't get it out of our heads.

"Boob Tube" is a show that will transport you back to those magical 70's. Don Pope and Rhonda Padmos return to the Main Stage with their live band, playing the songs that you love. This show is a nostalgic trip down Memory Lane.

This show captures the music of the 60's like none other!

Don and Rhonda are well-known musicians from Canada who arrived in Puerto Vallarta in the 1980's as guest musicians on the television show, The Love Boat. Currently, in their 6th season at Act II with shows like Come Together (Beatles tribute), Rumors (Fleetwood Mac tribute), California Dreamin' (Mamas & the Papas tribute), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sordid Lives, A Chorus Line and Tapestry (music of Carole King), Rhonda and Don are thrilled to bring this exciting new show to Act II!

This show has a unique format and is full of singing, comedy, and dancing to the rhythms that changed the world!

Act II is very excited about the 2018-2019 season! Featuring 35 different shows, from October through May, Act II has been designated as the "Best Performance Venue" by the Vallarta Tribune!
