San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico - As members of the community, and citizens of the world, it is our responsibility to counteract the deforestation that we cause when constructing buildings and roads.
Trees are the basis of the tropical forest ecosystem in which we live, providing shade, food and shelter for many species, including humans. Therefore, planting trees is a small contribution to the urgent and growing problem of global warming caused by air pollution.
For this reason, Entreamigos is working with local non-profits LILHA; Observatorio de Aves de San Pancho; Alianza Jaguar; Mujeres Por Amor a San Pancho; Tierra Tropical; Consorcio Riviera Nayarit; and Las Olas to coordinate efforts and volunteers with the objective of reforesting San Pancho, Nayarit.
On Friday, July 19, these community organizations and volunteers will plant 500 trees of different native species, along with ornamental plants, in five specific areas of San Pancho.
We invite you to participate in any - or all - phases of the reforestation project, including helping get everything organized for the event, planting on the day of the event, or being part of the network of volunteers that will be responsible for the ongoing care of the trees we plant.
As you can imagine, a lot of manpower is needed to plant 500 trees in just one day, so everyone's help is needed! Event organizers will be at the Plaza Del Sol at 9:00 am to greet volunteers, who should wear comfortable work clothes and shoes, and bring plenty of sunblock and water (in a reusable bottle.) All of the necessary tools and materials for reforestation will be provided.
Since children are our future, kids of all ages are encouraged to be part of the project, but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
