Tennis in Puerto Vallarta
About Tennis in PV Martin Parra - PVNN
Martin put Puerto Vallarta on the map as a tennis destination. Join him here in his tennis column where he reports on everything from the largest national and local events to the status of local amateurs.
Over the last 15 years, Puerto Vallarta and the area surrounding Banderas Bay has become a popular tennis destination. From large professional tennis tournaments boasting international and national fields, to amateur events featuring international, national and local stars, Puerto Vallarta offers it all.
Many visitors come here for the competition by taking advantage of the tennis packages offered by resorts and local tennis clubs. Local players, both professional and amateur, spend much of their time participating in competitive tournaments as well as friendly games.
Players of all levels of play are sure to find partners and in high season, courts are at a premium. The bad news is that there are no free courts in the Banderas Bay area. The good news is that tennis facilities are plentiful at resorts that offer tennis players every amenity. Many have tennis pros available for lessons, tournaments and clinics. Some resorts allow only guests or timeshare owners to utilize their courts, while others offer memberships and daily court fees to everyone.
We have compiled a list of every tennis court in the Bahia de Banderas area, which includes everything one needs to know before choosing their tennis destination. There are a total of 50 tennis courts in the bay area and four main areas where tennis is prevalent; Nuevo Vallarta, the Marina, the Hotel Zone and the South Side of Vallarta. |
