Last month, Mayor Gustavo Gonzalez Villaseñor marked the beginning of construction on the Malecon's extension at the area known as Malecon de la Marina, adjacent to the river Cuale.

With the attendance of several councilmen, functionaries, businessmen and representatives of the private sector, the mayor marked the start of 12 large impact infrastructure works to be carried out during this year by his administration.

He said this and other works will come to meet the demands of Puerto Vallarta as to tourist and urban infrastructure, and will put this destination on the top level on the international scene.

As to the extension and remodelling of the Malecon, Gonzalez Villaseñor added that these works will bring about an attractive space comparable to the principal tourist destinations of the world, in accordance with the traditional architecture of the typical Mexican town which Puerto Vallarta is.

At the same ceremony, the mayor announced that the works on the Mojoneras-Ixtapa road were to commence last Tuesday followed by side lanes on Francisco Medina Ascencio Ave. which will be completed by the bridges on the Pitillal River and El Salado Estuary.

He announced the construction of other important infrastructure works and the completion of the Rio Amazonas Avenue to connect Francisco Medina and Francisco Villa Avenues, as well as the construction of four parking lots.

In turn Carlos Manzano Zepeda, Director of Urban Planning explained the technical aspects of this grand work to be executed by GOTOP.

The project blue prints were on display, and on this basis the functionary elaborated on the aspects of the work, and that encompasses the area between the Aquiles Serdan and the foot bridge on the river Cuale, and its posterior continuation toward Los Muertos zone.

The area to be remodelled will be pedestrians-only, as the construction of a 320-vehicle parking lot is planned for the Benito Juarez Park area.
