DINE, Developer of Punta Mita, Achieves Ecological Excellence Wire services
| Punta Mita is an innovative, master planned resort and residential community covering more than 1,500 acres on a spear-shaped peninsula. | Punta Mita, Mexico - Punta Mita's reputation continues to soar, as the destination consistently ranks among the world's most desirable. Mexico's premier resort lies on the Pacific Coast, just north of the Puerto Vallarta International airport. The 1,500-acre peninsula wins praise for its luxury and landscape, but also for environmental sensitivity. The Mexican government singled out Punta Mita for Ecological Excellence. In fact, DINE, developer of Punta Mita, and its Four Seasons Golf Club and Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, was the only tourism entity thus honored for sustainable development in 2004.
Punta Mita continues to attract media attention. The Robb Report dubbed it the "star of the Pacific Coast". Conde Nast Traveler awarded the golf course top marks, including a perfect 100 score for speed of play. Other feature stories ran recently in The New York Times, USA Today, Luxury Living, Private Air and Amura (Mexico), among many others.
The Four Seasons Resort attracted record numbers last year, with average annual occupancy rates topping 80%. Revenues also hit a high-water mark, placing Punta Mita among the company's top-performers. The resort won't rest on its laurels, however; expansion plans include construction of a new 4-bedroom oceanfront Presidential suite and a new "Zen pool", surrounded by a teak sundeck, sushi bar, and eight built-in cabañas with mini-bar, flat-screen TVs, and high-speed wireless Internet access. This pool, slated for completion by mid-December 2005, will have a sexy, "lounge" feel to the area.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts joined this elite community in late 2004. The company will develop a luxury-branded, 120-room resort. Its complex, south of the Four Seasons, will also include full ownership and fractional vacation-ownership elements. Starwood plans to break ground in fall 2005, then open its doors late in 2007.
Real estate sales are booming. Experts predict a 50 percent gain on 2004's record figures. The Four Seasons Private Villas sold out its first phase. Prices ranged from $1.8 4.5 million USD for the 15 hillside villas and the three elite oceanfront properties.
Buyers also snapped up the first two phases of the La Punta sites on the ocean, priced between $2.6 3.1 million USD. Other neighborhoods of oceanfront home sites sold out, including the 20 Ranchos estate lots, and the 4 Signature Estates that feature views to the famed 3B island hole of the Jack Nicklaus signature golf course. Lagos del Mar has just two lots still available, among the 32 clustered around the golf course.
Punta Mita has new real estate offerings, as well. Las Palmas de Punta Mita is a golf and ocean-view community of 54 attached villas and 50 condominium units. Three remain available from the 28 first-phase villas released in October 2004. Prices started just under $1 million. This May, the second phase of villas will be released. El Encanto en Punta Mita is currently marketing nine units. Eventually, this exclusive community will blossom into 17 oceanfront residences, 46 attached town homes (with ocean and golf views) and a private beach club.
La Terrazas Golf Villas released 27 condominiums for sale. Located on the Jack Nicklaus golf course, these units begin at $575,000 USD. Four Seasons Private Villas releases its second phase in May 2005. These 12 deluxe villas have selected services and amenities provided by the Four Seasons Resort. Prices should start at just over $2 million USD. January 2005 saw the third and final phase of La Punta oceanfront estate sales. All 12 home sites, worth $2.3 4.5 million USD each, are reserved. Punta Mita hopes to welcome two additional communities this year as well.

Developer DINE just established a new company, concentrating on residential services. Owners can enjoy property management, rental services and a residential concierge.
