Puerto Vallarta Welcomes Mickey Mouse and the Disney Magic PVNN
Puerto Vallarta - The Disney Magic cruise ship made its inaugural voyage to the Mexican Riviera, the first of 12 consecutive seven-night trips, with stops in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and Cabo San Lucas. The luxury cruise ship arrived in Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday with approximately 2,600 passengers and just under 1,000 crew members aboard.
Upon disembarking, the captain and his crew were received by numerous dignitaries, including Puerto Vallarta Mayor Gustavo González Villaseñor, First Lady Gloria Córdoba and Secretary of Tourism Horacio González Pardo among other city and state officials and members of the local press.
In evaluating Puerto Vallarta as a port of call, Disney's inspection over the past few months showed the city to be safe and family-friendly. According to Captain Thord Haugen, "Almost 95% of the passengers are visiting Puerto Vallarta on this first voyage," compared with the industry average of about 65%.
With spacious staterooms, original Disney entertainment and activities, exotic ports and extraordinary onshore excursions, there's something for everyone on a Disney cruise. But the Disney Magic is truly a family ship, with a wide range of activities for all ages and special beepers to help parents maintain contact with their children.
There's almost an entire deck dedicated to children's space with age-specific programming, including an Oceaneer's Club for ages 3-7, Disney's Oceaneer lab where kids ages 8-12 can explore their universe in an interactive play space and several teens-only spaces loaded with music, movies, internet . . . everything a teenager could possibly want!
Adults can keep busy too — or just relax — all day and night. The Disney Magic features spa and fitness centers, a separate "adults only" pool and endless activities to keep them entertained. With all of that to offer, there's no wonder that the initial cruise was sold out, and availability is extremely limited for the rest of the summer, said Rena Langley, a Disney spokeswoman. |
