Construction on Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue Underway PVNN
| With an estimated cost of 4 million pesos, funded by the municipality, the roads are expected to be completed by September of this year. | Puerto Vallarta - Construction on the side lanes of Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue on the stretch between the Maritime Terminal and the Krystal Hotel began last Monday. With an estimated cost of 4 million pesos, funded by the municipality, the roads are expected to be completed by September of this year.
Remberto Quintero Gutierrez, head of the Municipal Public Works Department, recently told a press conference that the work underway is hydraulic pavement on the side lanes of the avenue, and the contract for this work was awarded to the company Cinco Contemporanea, S.A.
Quintero Gutierrez said that currently all of the work is being funded by the municipality, but they are seeking the participation of the adjacent hotels, saying that any contribution will make the project more viable if the municipality doesn't have to carry the entire cost of the improvements to the roads in Puerto Vallarta's hotel zone.
During the press conference, Quintero Gutierrez also informed reporters of his meeting with the state Secretary of Urban Development, in which he asked for an update on the city's request for bridges on El Salado estuary and the Pitillal River, and was assured that the solicitation would be issued as soon as possible so the works could begin.
He said that the surplus funds from these works would be earmarked for the construction of the bridge that will connect Mexico Avenue (Slaughterhouse-Mojoneras) and the Avenue that runs from Fluvial Vallarta to Plaza Caracol, since these are other strategic projects planned by the Puerto Vallarta municipal administration.
The functionary stressed the importance of the solicitation for the bridges, adding that the permits to be processed by the federal authorities are already in progress. All that remains is for the agreement between the city and the Urban Development Secretariat (Sedeur) to be signed, which requires an extraordinary session of the City Council. |
