Nine Continental Airlines executives are visiting Puerto Vallarta this week to study the local market; Noel Smith, Director of National Sales; Mike Going, Vice President of Certified Vacations Marketing; Scott Ackerman, General Manager of Continental Airlines Vacations; Kim Hughes, Marketing Manager; Paul Orovets, National Sales Manager; and five regional sales managers.
During their 4 day visit the Continental executives will inspect a number of hotels that work with Continental to provide special package rates through local and international tour operators, as well as touring the hotels that work with Continental to provide special rates for air and hotel vacation packages through their own vacation company.
Once known as "The Proud Bird With The Golden Tail," Continental boasts a long and distinctive history that began on July 15, 1934 with single-engine Lockheed aircraft on dusty runways in the American Southwest. In 1982, the airline merged with Texas International (retaining the Continental name), offering service to four continents (North and South America, Asia and Australia) with a fleet of 112 aircraft.
Continental Airlines won more awards than any other airline in the world at the OAG Airline of the Year Awards 2001. The airline took the top honors in five categories: Best short-haul executive/business class; Best Long-Haul Executive/Business Class; Best Trans-Atlantic Airline; Best Airline based in North America and Best Frequent Flyer Program.
In 2004, Continental Airlines received "Executive Travel" magazine’s award for Best Service to Mexico from the USA, while in 2003, 2004 and 2005 it received the Best Airline Based in North America Award from OAG, the organization that monitors airline performance. |
