Puerto Vallarta Artists Participate in Chicago Art Festival PVNN
| On August 27 and 28, some of Puerto Vallarta's finest artists will be traveling to Chicago to participate in the Port Clinton Art Festival. | Puerto Vallarta - As sister cities, citizens and organizations in Highland Park and Puerto Vallarta have been participating in cultural and social exchanges since the relationship was forged in 2001, and this year is no exception.
Earlier this year, Ana Maria Flores of Sister Cities Vallarta and Carol Wolfe, the current president of the Highland Park Sister Cities Foundation, made plans to advance the cultural exchanges between the two cities.
As a result of their ongoing efforts, some of Puerto Vallarta's finest artists will be traveling to Chicago on August 27 and 28 to participate in the Port Clinton Art Festival, which is considered one of the most important art festivals in the United States.
Each year, the Port Clinton Art Festival attracts over 270,000 visitors to the downtown area of Highland Park, Illinois. This year, 260 artists will be participating, including Puerto Vallarta artists Ada Colorina, Ireri Topete, Javier Niño, Javier Niño Solorio, Octavio Gonzalez and Jorge López Avila.
During the PV artists' visit, a whale sculpture by Octavio Gonzalez, the creator of the famous whale sculpture in Marina Vallarta, will be presented to Highland Park as a symbol of good will in the relations between the two cities.
The City of Highland Park will place the sculpture next to the Public Library in downtown Highland Park. The unveiling ceremony, which will be attended by Puerto Vallarta Mayor Gustavo Gonzalez, will be held on August 27th.
Artist Ada Colorina is no stranger to the Highland Park public, since her work was exhibited there last year, however, she is excited about participating in the Port Clinton Art Festival and plans to display 15 pieces of her art at this year's event.
The Port Clinton Art Festival not only contributes to the exposure of Mexican art on the international art scene, but will also promote our local artists, who will receive a special recognition award during this year's art festival in Highland Park. |
