Hidalgo Parking Lot Nears Completion PVNN
| Architect's model of the finished construction at Puerto Vallarta's Parque Hidalgo. | Puerto Vallarta - Parks and parking lots remain an issue in Puerto Vallarta - but now that summer vacation is almost over for most families, the parking structure at Hidalgo Park downtown is nearing completion.
Actually ahead of schedule, the two-level underground parking area with 160 spaces is scheduled to be opened on September 15th. As of this date, approximately 80% of the project has been completed, with wiring and plumbing among the final stages.
According to Luz Maria Torres, a representative of Discovery PV, the plaza, complete with public washrooms and administrative offices, won't be finished until the end of October. But with the upcoming Fiestas Patrias, the Mexican holiday that begins on September 15th, national tourists will find plenty of parking in the downtown area.
The new parking lot will give motorists a convenient parking place that offers easy access to downtown businesses and the cultural events scheduled to take place on the Malecón over the holiday weekend. Parking fees will be charged automatically, using a system that is already in place in parking lots throughout Guadalajara and Mexico City.
Ernesto del Castillo, the architect in charge of construction, stated that the hourly rate has not yet been set, but once established the hours and rates for parking will be announced through the local media. However, he did state that there will be no free parking or discounted rates during the official opening. |
