Puerto Vallarta - Once upon a time (a few years ago), a former literary agent and wonderful lady named Sally Conley built a magical house just a stone's throw from the large cathedral in El Pitillal. Lovingly designed by her dear friend, Clarke Plaxco, together they built a little library behind Sally's house.

Little by little, the small library became filled with children's books in both English and Spanish and art and craft supplies. As time went on, the art and craft supplies were magically transformed into bright and colorful cats and birds, which were placed near the tables and chairs throughout the gardens that surround the house and library.

As the word spread through Pitillal and throughout Puerto Vallarta about this little wonderland called Biblioteca de la Higuera (The Fig Tree Library), Sally's dream of bringing the magic of reading to the local children became a reality.

As we all know, making our dreams come true doesn't come cheap. Sally's dream has become a reality - but that reality comes with expenses. Her little library not only introduces our children to the joys of reading, but also brings lots of happiness to many local little boys and girls.

For this reason, we have decided to sponsor a benefit for Biblioteca Higuera from 6-9 pm on Monday, November 28th to assist Sally with some of the day-to-day expenses that are necessary to keep this magical kingdom alive.

Please join us at Casa de la Higuera (Hidalgo 256 - two blocks down from the back of the cathedral in Pitillal) for a Holiday Boutique that will not only give you a jump-start on Christmas gift buying - but will also help Sally Conley keep her little children's library in Pitillal alive.

The Holiday Boutique Benefit for Biblioteca Higuera will offer Christmas shoppers lots of little stocking stuffers for Christmas gifts, tapas lovingly created by Chef Marta Huantes-Robles, a cash bar with drinks cheerfully prepared by Joe Thompson, posters by talented local artist Judith Ewing-Morlan, some soft harp music and some great camaraderie!

For more information, please call Pamela Thompson at 222-9638 or 224-8122 or send an email to pmt15@hotmail.com.
