Galeria Vallarta Hosts Artist Manuel Valles Gomez Barbara Peters - PVNN
Puerto Vallarta - During the first Old Town Art Walk of 2006 on Wednesday January 4th, Galeria Vallarta will present the works of Manuel Valles Gomez, one of the most important contemporary muralists and multi-talented artists of Mexico.
In the tradition of the famous Mexican muralists José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, the murals painted by Manuel Valles Gomez, recently inaugurated in Durango and Zacatecas, conserve the fundamentals of this strong and symbolic technique of social commentary.
This style of art represents a form of protest against a harsh reality and gives the artist an opportunity to create in public places his vision of the highest ideals for humanity.
Manuel Valles Gomez has recently completed "Tierra, Hombre y Produccion" for the Instituto Technologico Agropecuario No. 1 in Durango, Dgo. The brilliant colors portray men of the land with the fruits of their labor, reflecting their past cultural heritage and a vision of the future.
The second mural, located at the Procuraduria General de la Republica in Zacatecas, is titled "Dia Internacional de la Lucha Antidrogas" and is a powerful statement of triumph over the forces of evil, painted in bright reds and tones of brown.
Manuel Valles Gomez has painted a number of other important murals, including "Man, Protector of Nature" and "Man and his Autonomy," located in the Secretariat of Social Development in Durango, "Education, Criticism and Participation" en the College of Science and Humanities of the University Juarez of the State of Durango, and "Education and Syndicalism" in the National Syndicate of Education Workers in Durango.
Manuel Valles Gomez has participated in more than 40 individual and collective expositions in Mexico and the US and has had a permanent exposition of his works at Galeria Vallarta for seven years. He has collectors all over the world, including an ex-president of Mexico.
Galeria Vallarta has the honor of presenting his exciting new works on Wednesday, January 4, during the Old Town Art Walk from 6-10 pm. The exciting new paintings are oils and acrylics in a variety of sizes and themes, and will be on display at the art gallery until Jan. 17th.
His paintings are part of the permanent exhibition in museums in Durango and Zacatecas. Manuel is also well known for his original hand carved wood masks which decorated with applications of leather, stones, shells and metal, each signed by the artist.
Don´t miss this exhibit and a chance to meet Manuel, one of the most important contemporary muralists and multi-talented artists of Mexico. |
