(Reuters/Jorge Silva) | Santiago de Chile - Without a single minute of truce, ruling Michelle Bachelet and opposition Sebastian Piñera are finishing their presidential campaigns Thursday with massive acts.
Bachelet, favorite in the polls, will close with a cultural-political rally in Santiago, where outstanding national and foreign artists, including Spanish singers Miguel Bose, Ana Belen, and Victor Manuel, are performing.
Soledad Alvear, former foreign minister, assured over 100,000 people are expected to attend the event. “It will be an early celebration of Bachelet´s win next Sunday,” she noted.
For his part, Miguel Bose said he was convinced Bachelet´s charm has penetrated the people. “We are sure she will continue with the line that rescued Chile from the dictatorship,” he indicated.
In the meantime, Daniel Platovsky, member of Piñera´s strategic team, explained his act will be held outside Santiago, thus showing one of the main goals of the businessman´s possible government: to decentralize the country and give more power to the regions.
At the closing of the hard-fought campaign, marked by continuous, mutual verbal attacks, Bachelet is heading the polls with 3 to 11 points over her. |
