exico City - Indestructible friendship between the peoples of Mexico and Cuba has been strengthened in this capital, where representatives of more than 20 organizations held the 11th Meeting of Solidarity with the Island.

Attendees had an intensive work day on Saturday at Vicente Lombardo Toledano Worker University, where the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MMSC) was born 11 years ago.

The current economic and social situation in Cuba and Venezuela, as well as the plight of five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters unjustly held in US jails and the struggle for their release were among issues discussed in the meeting scheduled to end on Sunday.

Solidarity with Cuba, the creation of a youth network to support the Island, as well as working experiences and coordination at national and state levels were also discussed.

An action plan for 2006, a final statement and a call to hold next year's meeting in Acapulco, Guerrero, are expected to be approved during Sunday's plenary session.

In a message, Acapulco municipality president Felix Salgado demanded the release of the five Cuban fighters held in US prisons.

Cuban ambassador to Mexico Jorge Bolaños described as valuable MMSC´s support to Cuba.
