Venezuela´s Chavez in Cuba Prensa Latina

(AFP/Mauricio Lima) | Havana - Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela President Hugo Chavez is arriving Thursday in Havana to receive UNESCO´s 2005 Jose Marti International Award, recently confered on the recommendation of a seven-member international jury.
The award presentation ceremony, on February 3 at Jose Marti Revolution Square, will be attended by medicine students from Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba and other Latin American nations plus 200,000 Havana residents.
The Marti Prize was created 1994 by UNESCO´s Executive Board on the Cuban initiative to honor an individual or institution having contributed to the unity and integration of Latin American and the Caribbean countries and to the preservation of their identities, cultural traditions and historical values.
President Chavez will previously be at the opening of Havana´s International Book Fair 2006, dedicated to Venezuela.
His new visit will further strengthen relations between the two countries and forward plans favoring Cuban and Venezuelan peoples as well as Latin America. |
