California Soccer League Supports PV Youth

Ex-Chivas star, Demetrio Madero, will join Leigh, Joshua and Kathryn Kirmsee from the Mount Diablo Soccer Association of Concord, California, when they present new soccer uniforms to local youth soccer teams at the Sports Stadium this Wednesday at 11:00 am. Visit the website of the Mount Diablo Soccer Association at MDSoccer.org.
Puerto Vallarta - As Soccer Mom, Coach and active member of the Mount Diablo Soccer Association's Board of Directors in Concord California, it's no surprise that Leigh Kirmsee checked out a few soccer games on her last visit to Puerto Vallarta. Needless to say, she was impressed by the talent and enthusiasm of some young kids she saw playing, but at the same time, she was dismayed to see that many teams lacked proper uniforms and equipment.

According to Coach Leigh, "It is vitally important that these kids remain inspired to stay in athletics, and if we can help in some small way, we are happy to do that." So she started making plans. The minute she returned to Concord, she utilized the Mount Diablo Soccer Association's newsletter to ask members for permission to donate the surplus athletic gear stored in the Association's warehouse to some of the less fortunate children's soccer teams in Puerto Vallarta.

Steve Price, owner of Soccer Magic in Walnut Creek, California heard about the donation and happily jumped on board. Steve added extra balls, all the shin guards, the coaches bags as well as all of the premium jerseys. Steve, we thank you very much for your kind donation and remember that every kid will be thinking about your kind gesture while playing in their first official uniforms.

As a result, on Wednesday, April 19th at 11:00 am, Demetrio Madero, Pamela Davis and Jose Curiel Madero will be joining Leigh Kirmsee and her two children, Joshua and Kathryn at the Puerto Vallarta Sports Stadium, as they present 130 soccer balls, 100 full uniforms (shirts, shorts & socks), 26 Keeper jerseys, 30 Premium uniform jerseys, 60 practice jerseys, 30 sets of shin guards and 7 coaches bags to some of the kids that play soccer in Puerto Vallarta.

Demetrio Madero, a former Chivas star and member of Mexico's World Cup team is currently working as the head of a unique government social services program to enhance the neighborhoods and lifestyles of some of the less fortunate residents of Vallarta.

Pamela Davis is a former professional female soccer player from Los Angeles and now is living in Puerto Vallarta. Pamela currently teaches girl's soccer and is in charge of the Municipal Soccer School.

Jose Curiel Madero played professional soccer in Mexico in the 1980's and 1990's, mostly for Team Atlas. He has played in England, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Australia and is the only person living in Puerto Vallarta to play in the Junior World Cup on Mexico's National team.

Other dignitaries will also be invited to attend.

Join the family, the kids that will receive the uniforms, and their coaches at 11:00 am on Wednesday. All of the donated items are brand new and the selection of recipients will be made by Ignacio (Nacho) Curiel Madero, the Director of Sports for the city of Puerto Vallarta.

The teams selected to receive the uniforms are as follows:

• 2 teams from Colonia Infonavit which has 3 fields and is east of Ixtapa

• 1 team from the Colonia Loma Bonita field with kids living in outlying areas

• 1 team from Colonia Agua Azul field with kids from nearby communities playing

• The Real Madrid team that plays in Colonia La Moderna

• 1 team from Colonia Diaz Ordaz

Papa Don's Pizza just announced that they will be at the event and will donate pizza to all in attendance (maybe even a few T shirts too).

The value of the gifts is estimated at over $50,000 pesos, and Kirmsee & family stated that the Mount Diablo Soccer Association will be donating more soccer uniforms and equipment in the near future. We thank the Kirmsee family and invite all those interested in showing their appreciation to the Mount Diablo Soccer Association to attend this very special event.
