Puerto Vallarta - In an effort to maintain Puerto Vallarta's position as one of the leading tourist destinations in Mexico, a new tourist service and information office was opened at Parque Hidalgo earlier this month.

On April 7th, Mayor Gustavo Gonzalez Villaseñor was joined by Municipal Tourist Director, Luis Cerda Acuña; Councilman for Tourism, Agustin Alvarez Valdivia and Regional Tourism Director, Ludwig Estrada Virgen, for a ribbon cutting ceremony to inaugurate the opening of the new tourist information facility.

During the inaugural speeches, Acuña, the head of the Municipal Tourist Department, said that tourism is an integral part of our city that not only provides economic support of our residents, but also positions Puerto Vallarta as one of the most popular beach destinations in Mexico for both national and international tourists.

In turn, Puerto Vallarta mayor Villaseñor took the stage to state that it is thanks to the joint efforts and positive attitude of the authorities, the private sector and the citizens in general, that transcendental steps are being taken in the sustainable development of our beautiful city.

According to Villaseñor, the new information center is not only one more tourist attraction, but also a representation of the growth and modernization of Puerto Vallarta as a world-class tourist destination. "Now the local population can enjoy a space of recreation with their families and visitors can get consultations and advice about the attractions available in this window of Mexico," Gonzalez said.

After the inaugural ceremony a reception, sponsored by the Tourism Board and the State Government's Regional Tourism Department, offered the crowd wine and appetizers provided by some of the finest hotels and restaurants in Puerto Vallarta.
