13th Annual Puerto Vallarta Sports Classic
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

Admission is free to all sporting events - and everyone is invited to come join and in the fun.
Every year since 1993, when the International Sports Classic became an annual tradition, sports teams from all over North and South America have been coming to Puerto Vallarta every May to compete in a variety of sporting events.

This year, more than 2,000 athletes are expected to participate, as National teams and professional athletes, along with Banderas Bay area school children and sports enthusiasts, are firing up their competitive spirits for hot and heavy competition in a variety of sporting events.

The brainchild of former Olympic basketball champion, Howard Kelsey, the Puerto Vallarta Sports Classic, officially called The Sidral Aga International Sports Classic, is a popular yearly event that has inspired many local kids to pursue athletic activities.

This year, competitions and exhibition games range from basketball, softball and children's soccer tournaments, a 5k fun run, and an aerobics marathon to tennis and Pro-Beach Volleyball tournaments.

Offering a weekend full of fun for all ages, the 2006 Sports Classic will take place from May 19-21. Based at the Sheraton Buganvilias and Buenaventura Hotels in Puerto Vallarta, many events will be held at the sports stadium, local beaches, and resort tennis clubs all around town.

Competitions and activities are open to sports teams and individual athletes of all ages and skill levels - from professional to recreational. You can bring your own team or be added to one by the organizers, who'll place you according to competence. For more information contact Veronica Alarcon at (322) 226-0404.

But the most important participants are the people of Puerto Vallarta. Admission is free to all sporting events - and everyone is invited to come join and in the fun.
