U.S. Man Arrested on Suspicion of Killing Fellow American Associated Press
| Local authorities said Thompson is 20 years old and from Virginia. | Puerto Vallarta – Police here have arrested a U.S. man on suspicion of involvement in last month's death of a fellow American during an apparent robbery.
Kevin Thompson is suspected of involvement in the death of Edwin Grissom Jr., police said late last week.
Local authorities said Thompson is 20 years old and from Virginia. They did not release a hometown.
Grissom was 51 and originally from Birmingham, Alabama, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said. An Embassy official confirmed the name of Thompson, who also was known as Kevin Siciliano, but said privacy laws prevented the Embassy from releasing any additional information on him.
Thompson was arrested on Wednesday. A Mexican man, identified as Tomas Sarau Flores, 22, also was arrested in the case, police said.
Grissom's decomposed body was found at his Puerto Vallarta home in late April. Prosecutors said initial investigations suggested that the robbery of television and sound equipment from Grissom's home may have been a motive in the killing. The stolen objects were later recovered.
Police say that Sarau Flores invited Thompson to help him rob the home. Grissom resisted and was killed during the struggle, they said.
Prosecutors claim both men have confessed to killing Grissom by battering him in the head with a crystal ball. |
