Cruise Ship Tourism on the Rise
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

Faced with increased demand for cruises, the Disney World corporation intends to add Mexican beach destinations - including Puerto Vallarta - to the Disney cruise ships’ list of ports of call.
According to the latest data released by Mexico’s Department of Tourism (Sectur) the number of tourists coming to this country on cruise ships will increase by over 20% during the current year, especially along the Pacific coast, which usually lags behind the Caribbean.

Ludwig Estrada, Regional Director of Tourism, believes that the uncertainty generated by the feeling of insecurity along the border with the United States, and the appreciation of the Euro have resulted in more people taking cruises to México in recent years.

Faced with this type of increased demand for cruises, the Disney World corporation intends to add Mexican beach destinations - including Puerto Vallarta - to the Disney cruise ships’ list of ports of call.

These are gigantic floating hotels with a capacity of approximately 2,400 passengers each. Originally, these ships left from Miami headed for the Caribbean, but this year the company has scheduled 12 Disney Magic cruise ships to leave from Los Ángeles, California, to visit Mexican beaches where the Disney characters - so popular in this country - will be able to disembark along with the passengers, in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and Cabo San Lucas.
