Ujena Bikini Jam 5k Run Sue Fornoff - PVNN
| Ujena 5k Run's overall winner was Lilian Kroner, a 40-year-old mother of three from New York who was vacationing in Vallarta. | Out of the 250 runners who participated in the Ujena 5k Run that took place in the Puerto Vallarta Hotel Zone on Saturday, September 2nd, the overall winner was Lilian Kroner, a 40-year-old mother of three from New York who was vacationing in Vallarta.
Over the past 19 years the Ujena 5k Run, the only race in the world that features bikini models along with elite runners, has been held in various cities around the world, including Cancun, Cabo, San Francisco, and most recently, in Puerto Vallarta.
Since fitness is a very important part of modeling and photography, all Ujena Bikini Jam contestants are required to compete in the the Ujena 5k Run, and finishing the race earns them valuable points in overall competition.
Martha Gonzales, who has participated in four previous Ujena 5k runs, stated "I am glad Bob requires the models to run the 5k ... I know it will be hot in Puerto Vallarta this September, but I will be ready to run."
The overall winner of this year's Ujena 5K race, which was held in Puerto Vallarta on September 2nd, was Lilian Kroner, a 40-year-old mother of three. A native of Guadalajara, Lilan is a homemaker from a New York City suburb who, while vacationing in Vallarta with some relatives, saw the banner and entered the race just for fun.
I thought this was noteworthy because not only did a woman over 40 win, but she is also a Mexican! She blew away the competition, beating all of the 250 runners who took part in the race, including all those young bikini babes AND all the men!
Registration for the Puerto Vallarta International Ujena 5K Walk/Run cost participants only $100 pesos per runner, and a portion of all proceeds were donated to the Puerto Vallarta chapter of the Cruz Roja Mexicana (Red Cross.)
"The funds available to Cruz Roja Mexicana have been very stretched recently. Last year, we worked with Cruz Roja in San Jose del Cabo. Then, we were there to help the Cruz Roja after the hurricane in Cancun.... so we know that whatever funds we helped to raise here in Vallarta will be well used," stated Ujena CEO, Bob Anderson. |
