Mexican Church Faces New Accusations Prensa Latina
| Mexican Cardinal Norberto Rivera | Mexican Cardinal Norberto Rivera is facing a third lawsuit for protecting a pederast priest, it was revealed Wednesday.
Valentina Mendoza, mother of three boys sexually abused by priest Nicolas Aguilar twelve years ago in Los Angeles, California, declared the time has come for justice, and urged the resignation of Rivera for protecting the rapist.
Rivera, who was then archbishop of Tehuacan, transferred the pederast priest to Los Angeles for "family and health reasons," according to the letter he sent to the LA cardinal.
Mexican ecclesiastical sources revealed that in only nine months, Nicolas Aguilar raped 26 boys, figures corroborated in LA police reports, and that Rivera knew about the crimes.
The Jeff Anderson legal office is preparing the third lawsuit against Aguilar and Rivera and will take it to the LA Supreme Court after the Christmas holidays. The previous two were also brought in that city.
The mother of the three boys, who is asking for compensation and the resignation of Rivera, reiterated that the cardinal is guilty for he knew the priest was a criminal and sent him to the US to destroy more homes. |
