Budget to Spur Business, Trim Bureaucratic Excess El Universal
National Action Party (PAN) legislators on Saturday said the 2007 budget package will be sent to Congress on Tuesday and is expected to contain "interesting and attractive proposals."
"There will be more funds available to support small and micro-businesses in an effort to spur employment," said PAN Deputy Manuel Minjares.
In addition, Minjares said the budget will reflect the expectation that the government will have fewer resources.
"The budget will try to address this by trimming bureaucratic excesses and aiming for more efficient government," he said.
PAN congressional coordinator Héctor Larios said he was convinced the budget would take into account ideas important to the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD).
"But we must be sure and appeal to all the parties," he said. "Consensus is important for Congress to work well and to be productive."
PRD coordinator Javier González Garza said he wasn´t sure if dialogue would be possible after last week´s battles on the floor of Congress.
"However, it all depends on the specifics of the budget," he said. "We can put aside personal grudges to benefit the nation." |
