(AP/Eduardo Verdugo) | Opposition leader and former presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador called Mexican ex President Vicente Fox a traitor to democracy and a cynic, after Fox admitted his intrusion in the July 2006 election.
"Now, he openly admits it," Lopez Obrador said in Zacatecas State on Friday in his tour of all Mexican municipalities.
He asked his followers to continue the struggle for the transformation of the country in a peaceful way, because this is the hope of millions, and insisted that it is a minority that is still opposed to changes in the economic policy of Mexico.
Lopez Obrador announced that he will lead a movement for the defense of the Mexican popular economy and to avoid privatization of Mexican petroleum from March 21 to 24.
In view of his statements admitting evidently irregularly handling power during the presidential elections, PRD (Democratic Revolution Party) proposed accusing Fox of treason, since he committed serious violations of the Constitution.
PRD congressional leader Javier Gonzalez Garza announced the accusation will be presented to the Attorney General s Office.
It is extremely serious that Fox committed illegalities, fraud and allied himself to prevent a competitor from winning the presidency, he said and declared Fox could not be immune to sanctions. |
