The Crocodile Hunters Sue Fornoff - PVNN
| In the municipality of Bahia de Banderas, Jonathan Nacar Munoz is the local "Crocodile Hunter." | Imagine going outside for your morning swim and finding a crocodile in the pool! Recently, the residents of the Seibal Mayan Palace Island Resort development in Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit had just that happen.
In the municipality of Bahia de Banderas, Jonathan Nacar Munoz is the local "Crocodile Hunter." Nacar is employed by the Proteccion Civil y Bomberos and is responsible for relocating wayward crocodiles.
That Sunday morning, Seibal employees called Proteccion Civil at 066 to report that a 7-foot crocodile was swimming in the pool. Nacar was notified, and he and his girl friend/assistant, Marcela Machain Sanabria, arrived on the scene armed with a net, a wire noose, duct tape and some rope.
Enlisting resort security personnel to assist, the croc was corralled to one end of the pool with the net. Nacar carefully put the noose around the croc's neck and pulled her from the pool.
She must have been enjoying her swim - since she thrashed and hissed when being removed from the pool. By the time she was taken out of the water, a crowd of about 50 had gathered to watch.
Nacar and Machain quickly got a broom and pushed the croc's mouth shut. While they have tremendous crushing power with their jaws, crocodiles actually have very little strength to open their mouths.
The mouth was duct-taped shut, the eyes covered to keep the animal calmer and it was quickly bound and taken to a waiting pick-up truck.
After Nacar measured and tagged the crocodile and filled out the necessary paperwork the contrary croc was released in the wild in the Quelele Lagoon near the Flamingos Golf Course.
