U.S. Battles Mexican Insurgents In New Xbox Game Associated Press
| "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2" Takes Place In El Paso | As a civil war rages out of control in Mexico, an elite U.S. Army unit is called in to quell the violence before it seeps across the border from Ciudad Juarez into El Paso.
It's a frightening and fictional scenario played out in the latest Tom Clancy video game for the Xbox 360 console.
"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2" is set seven years in the future and revives the character of Capt. Scott Mitchell, the Ghost team leader who first led the elite force in the original "Ghost Recon" game released two years ago.
The T-rated, $59.99 game from Ubisoft hits stores Thursday and will make its debut at Fort Bliss, just outside El Paso.
Officials at the Fort Bliss Morale, Welfare and Recreation office said gaming sessions would be available for soldiers stationed at McGregor Range on Fort Bliss.
Jaime Borasi, a Ubisoft spokeswoman, said the game setting was a natural evolution for a franchise that started with a story set in Mexico City.
She said Ubisoft has not received any complaints about the setting or subject matter.
"I think people realize it's the backdrop for a story, an immersive experience," Borasi said. |
