Mexico to Ban People Trade

Mexico - People trade, a crime that has turned in this country into children´s prostitution and people and organ trade, will be punished with severe sentences, if the a law recently approved at the Deputy Chamber is accepted.

The Lower Chamber´s plenary approved on Thursday the mentioned legislation, which included sentences up to 27 years in prison and fines up to 3,300 minimum salary days to those who commit that crime.

The law was approved with 396 votes in favor and one abstention

The new regulation, which will have to be approved by the Senate, has the objective of avoiding and punish people trade, and establishing protection, assistance, and aid to the victims.

The law recently approved by the Mexican deputies includes establishment of a State policy in this respect, and creation of an inter-secretarial committee.
