Ianiero Suspects Say Government, MacKay 'Utterly Incompetent' Canadian Press
Ottawa - Two Canadian women whom Mexican authorities regard as prime suspects in the Ianiero murders say the federal government has paid them only lip service in their efforts to clear their names.
Cheryl Everall and Kimberley Kim are accusing Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay of "utter incompetence" and "negligence" in his handling of their case against the "endless, wild accusations" made by Mexican investigators.
The two single mothers from Thunder Bay, Ont., have been branded professional assassins by Bello Melchor Rodriguez y Carillo, the attorney general for the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.
Domenic and Nancy Ianiero's bodies were discovered in their Mexican hotel room on Feb. 20, 2006, their throats slit.
Recent reports suggests Blas Ismael Delgado Fajardo, a security guard who disappeared after the murders, is the only suspect mentioned in official police documents on the case of the Toronto couple.
Everall and Kim say MacKay and his junior minister, Helena Guergis, should resign over their "complete failure" to protect the interests of two upstanding Canadian citizens. |
