US Deports Two Mexican Drug Trafficking Suspects Xinhua
| Francisco Javier Arellano Fιlix, alias "el tigrillo" | The United States on Tuesday deported two Mexican men arrested last year with a man alleged to be the leader of a drug cartel, Mexico's Attorney General's Office said.
Jose Ivan Leon and Juan Romero Fion, were handed over to a special Mexican police unit that investigates crimes against public health.
The two men were arrested in August last year, along with Javier Arellano Felix, who is alleged to be one of the kingpins of Mexico's notorious Tijuana-based Arellano Felix drug cartel.
The Attorney General's Office said the U.S. authorities decided to deport the two men when they were not named in the case against Arellano, known as El Tigrillo.
The U.S. Coast Guard captured the two suspects alongside Arellano in a sport-fishing yacht in international waters off La Paz, Mexico.
The kingpin has pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking, money laundering and conspiracy charges and remains in federal custody. |
