Since its opening last November, the Puerto Vallarta Navy Museum and Naval Historical Center has been dedicated to exhibiting and preserving Mexico's history and culture.

This month, as part of their historical and cultural program, the museum is featuring a special art exhibition, Seduction, Figure and Color, a collection of paintings, drawings and installations created at a recent art workshop led by Ireri Topete at La Casa de la Cultura del Rio Cuale.

The exhibit, depicting different concepts, interpretations, and variations of the workshop's central theme - the human figure - as depicted by twenty-six participating art students, was created as a result of live drawing practice using human models during Ireri's art workshop.

Topete, who also had a recent art exhibition called Lithos in Guadalajara, shares her thoughts on how interesting and rich the experience of using the human figure as the art subject when working with a group has been. "The results of the workshops art pieces are expressed through the eyes of each participating student. Each of them had their own particular way of viewing the human figure in relation to its environment, color and texture, as well as their own perspectives of everyday life."

The students' task was to reach a visual game full of variations and possibilities. It is a nice surprise to witness that most of the participating artists are also the same ones that also took the workshop led by art teacher Agustin Lopez Castro, which was exhibited at Gallery Corsica on June 20th, which gives proof to the fact that these talented local artists are always learning, researching, and evolving in their use of art techniques.

Seduction, Figure, and Color opened at the Navy's Historical Museum of Puerto Vallarta on Friday, July 6th, but you still have time to enjoy this wonderful art exhibition featuring works created by local artists at the amazing Navy History Museum.

Located next to the Los Arcos Amphitheater on the Malecon in downtown Puerto Vallarta, the museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
