Cash to the tune of 205 million dollars confiscated last March from the drug trafficker of Chinese origin, Zhenli Ye Gon is currently under control of the Banco de Mexico (BANXICO), confirmed the Treasury Department.

A communiqué released Friday indicated that the Zhenli fortune includes 200 thousand Euros, several million in pesos and a great amount of jewels that was deposited in BANXICO in favor of the Treasury.

The Alienation and Administration of Goods Service pointed out the funds are not at risk since they are under legal possession of the Mexican government.

Zhenli, a businessman born in Hong Kong and naturalized Mexican citizen, illegally commercialized with a pseudo-ephedrine to produce met-amphetamines and has fled to the United States to avoid facing charges.

Recent declarations by Zhenli link the governing Partido Accion Nacional (PAN) with money seized by Mexican authorities in one of his homes, causing a large scandal.

According to the international drug boss, the current Labor Secretary, Javier Lozano, forced him to keep the millions of dollars allegedly employed to finance the presidential campaign of 2006 that ended with the victory of Felipe Calderon.

Consequently, the Mexican Partido de la Revolucion Democratica (PRD) demanded that the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) investigate if there was illegal use of funds in the campaign.

PRD leaders called on IFE to assume its legal and political obligation to analyze the truth of these charges and warned that they would lay a similar accusation before the Attorney General of the Republic.
