Mexico Police Intercept Big Heroin Shipment Chicago Tribune go to original
Mexico City — Mexican federal police seized a U.S.-bound shipment of pure heroin on a highway in the northern state of Chihuahua, officials said Friday.
The 25 pounds of the drug, hidden in a van's engine, represent Mexico's second-largest heroin confiscation this year, the Public Safety Department said Friday in a news release.
The vehicle was on its way to Denver and was being driven by a Mexican national with legal residency in the U.S., the department said.
Authorities discovered the drug at a security checkpoint after examining the van and finding that its engine had non-matching parts. |
