Bloodydecks.com's Second Annual Tuna Shootout was hosted at Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico over the August 17th to 19th weekend. The annual event drew 16 boats and 65 anglers competing for cash and prizes totaling over $21,000.
Anglers braved tough fishing conditions and even tougher weather conditions in search of big tuna to meet the tournament 75 lb minimum weight requirement.
Team Elvis Too! outlasted the competition and brought in the winning tuna. They also won both special divisions for the largest dorado and releasing the only marlin of the tournament.
Their 178 lb tuna earned them $21,000 in cash, an AVET 50 two-speed for their marlin release and an AVET LX for the largest dorado.
Team Elvis Too! was fishing aboard "Lightspeed," a 47' Cabo Sportfisher. The winning Team consisted of: Captain Rob Ellyn, angler Luis Ramos, team member Richard Hoffman and deckhands Nacho Osorio and Omar Hernandez.
Bloodydecks.com co-owner Ali Hussainy was quoted saying "We at Bloodydecks.com are excited to have another great event in the record books. Congratulations to Team Elvis Too! for sticking it out in some grueling conditions and taking home a very nice paycheck. We are already planning a bigger and better event for next year!"
