(Reuters/Pilar Olivares) | Trade ministers and officials from Mexico, the United States and Canada will meet on Monday and Tuesday in Vancouver, Canada, to discuss issues concerning the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Mexico's Economy Ministry said on Sunday.
Mexican Economy Minister Eduardo Sojo, Canadian Trade Minister David Emerson and U.S. trade representative Susan Schwab will take part in the talks.
During the talks, the trade officials will analyze advances in the targets set at the last meeting of the NAFTA commission in the Mexican Pacific port of Acapulco, Guerrero in 2006.
They are scheduled to work out priorities for 2008 and discuss tariff relief and issues on free flow of services.
The three nations launched the NAFTA in January 1994 and created the world's largest free trade area. The agreement has spurred economic growth and lifted living standards for people in all three countries.
The United States now is Mexico's largest trading partner, while Mexico is the U.S.'s third largest partner, after China and Canada.
