AeroScout Outfits Mexico's First All Digital Hospital Rhonda Ascierto - CBR Online go to original
AeroScout yesterday announced its RFID tags and software were chosen by the new General Hospital in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, which it claims is the first all digital hospital in Mexico.
The hospital is using RFID to keep tabs on expensive medical equipment so that it can be tracked and quickly located by staff when needed. It also is using RFID to track patients as they move through the different medical areas.
The hospital uses AeroScout's long-life active WiFi tags attached to medical equipment such as wheelchairs and other mobile assets to track their location and status throughout its Cisco WiFi network.
The data is then sent to AeroScout's MobileView software, which includes searchable maps, reporting, event-based alerts, and integration to other hospital IT systems.
The General Hospital is part of a program supported by the Mexican government to create a network of all digital hospitals. Carlos Casteneda, CIO of Instituto Mexicano Del Seguro Social, said asset and patient tracking was an important part of the new paperless environment envisioned by the government.
He said AeroScout's RFID technology enabled it to leverage its existing WiFi infrastructure "without the need for an expensive and intrusive proprietary RFID infrastructure." |
