Tijuana – Mexican authorities captured seven people suspected of being members of a kidnapping ring after the group demanded $2 million for the release of a Mexicali business-man last month.

Six suspects were captured in Mexicali, and the seventh was captured in the nearby state of Sinaloa, according to the Baja California State Attorney General's Office.

The suspects are Mariano Alberto Valdez Lugo, Fabian Isaac Valdez, Hugo Arturo Rosas Orellana, Julio César Cruz Zamora, Luis García Muñoz, Elsa Gloria and Blanca Estela López Canez.

Mexican authorities said the unidentified victim was kidnapped Sept. 19 from his business.

Minutes later, the kidnappers demanded $2 million. The family paid an undisclosed sum of money for his release and worked with police to locate the suspects this month.
