bANANAcANtiNA Charity Nights are Back! Denise Derameé - PVNN
| To make your reservations or to learn more about Local Celebrity Night at Banana Cantina, call 222-2114 or email PVbananacantina@aol.com. | For Banana Cantina owners Mike and Debbi Egan, life has always involved helping children, so last year they decided to help raise money for Banderas Bay area schools and charitable organizations by hosting Local Celebrity Charity Night at their Puerto Vallarta restaurant, Banana Cantina.
Held every Wednesday from 7-10 pm, Local Celebrity Night at bANANAcANtiNA soon became one of Puerto Vallarta's most popular weekly events, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to eat, drink and be merry - for a good cause.
Not only did they invite a "Local Celebrity" to entertain guests while raising funds for a local school or charity, but they also donated 10% of the night's sales to the charity of the week.
As the 2006/2007 high season progressed the spirit of giving grew - and so did the fun - as each week's guest host tried to outmatch the last's by adding a little something extra to help raise even more money for their favorite charity.
| Last March, local celebrity Polly Vicars, (shown here with Debbi Egan) and Peter Gray hosted 2 BananaCantina FUNdraisers, raising $7,515 pesos for Becas Vallarta, A.C. |
| Last April, Nina Goodhope of La Bodega de Nina (shown here with Mike Egan) joined other local celebrities to raise over $15,000 pesos for the Alfredo V. Bonfil School. |
| Due to the high demand of her loyal followers, last season Mama Dolores made two appearances at Banana Cantina Local Celebrity Night to help support Alfredo V. Bonfil School. | Welcoming such local celebrities as Tim Longpré of PVRPV, Mama of Mama Dolores' Diner, Nina Goodhope of La Bodega de Nina, Zac Campbell of Eventful Moments Vallarta, respected local author Polly Vicars, Puerto Vallarta restaurant reviewer Gary Beck and celebrated painter, author and CUC Art Museum founder Peter Gray, to name just a few - Mike and Debbi proved that Together We Can Make A Difference! - raising much needed funds for several good causes, including the Alfredo V. Bonfil School, Becas Vallarta, New Life Mexico, R.I.S.E, and Make a Wish Mexico.
With the 2007/2008 Puerto Vallarta high season now in full swing, Mike & Debbi are proud to announce that Local Celebrity Nights at bANANAcANtiNA will resume on Wednesday, November 7th, 2007.
The season's first celebrity guest host will be Candance of Fishing with Carolina, who will be raising funds for AUTISM02, a non-profit clinic with a Hyperbaric Chamber for those with MS, Fibromyalgia, Cancer, stroke and many other serious ailments.
The fun continues on November 14th with Aids Activist Felicia Melon, a travel assistant for Just Terry Alternative Travel in Madison Wisconsin, raising funds for the nephew of three Banana Cantina staff members, baby Feilipe, who was born with congenital heart defects.
The return of Local Celebrity Night at bANANAcANtiNA gives everyone the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child while enjoying a fabulous night of friendship, food and fun - so mark your calendars NOW!
In addition, the weekly raffle gives you a chance to win jewelry from Cassandra Shaw, gift certificates from a couple of Puerto Vallarta restaurants and other wonderful raffle prizes, so bring along some extra pesos and get into the action.
Speaking of action, if you'd like to volunteer as a bANANAcANtiNA Local Celebrity guest host or donate a raffle prize to help raise funds for your favorite Banderas Bay area school or charity, please send an email to Debbi at pvbananacantina@aol.com today!
