Vallarta Yacht Club Charity Chili Cookoff John Moore - PVNN
Although some will tell you that a real Chili Cookoff can only be held in the great state of Texas, the VYC Volunteers and competitors have been working very hard over the last 8 years to create a similar reputation for the great state of Nayarit.
On December 1st, the Vallarta Yacht Club will be hosting its 8th Annual Cruisers Charity Chili Cookoff.
They say a Chili Cookoff is about as much fun as a person can stand. This year's V.Y.C. Cookoff will be no exception. Attendees can buy tickets to sample some of the best chili to be found on and around Banderas Bay, while raising money for the Families of the Dump Foundation.
Chairperson Mary Ladner noted that there are already 12 chili booths signed up and expect more. Most chili competitors dress in costume and serve their gastronomical delights from their theme decorated booths.
All funds raised will be donated to the Families of the Dump Foundation and awards will be given to the best chili (as determined by the most sample tickets sold) in both the Cruiser Division and the Land Division.
Last year, the Bolinger's Queen Ann Chili took first place, followed by the Chili Chicks, who took second place. Carnes del Mundo won first in the Land Division, followed by Full Sail Canvas, who took second.
If you enjoy great chili and want to have some food & fun, put December 1st down on your calendar. It will be a night to remember. Most participants interviewed last year said that the 2006 VYC Chili Extravaganza was a moving experience, some even ventured to say it was a gas!
The Vallarta Yacht Club is located in Paradise Village at Paseo De Los Cocoteros N° 001 Local #20, Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit. For more information, or to see photos from last year's event, visit VallartaYachtClub.com |
