Cuban 5 Meeting in Mexico Prensa Latina go to original
A solidarity event for the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in United States will be run in the border city of Tijuana, Mexican state of Baja California.
The meeting is attended by Irma Sehwerert, deputy to the Cuban National Assembly and mother of Rene Gonzalez, one of the Cuban Five, as well as Silvia Lozano, from the presidency of that legislative body.
Also included are Jose Jacques Medina, deputy to the Mexican Parliament, Cuathemoc Auezcana, professor of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and Detroit judge Claudia Morcon.
The activity is organized by the International Committee for the Release of the Five and its coordinator Alicia Jrapko, who told Prensa Latina that the documentary "El Proceso," related by US actor Danny Glover, will be screened in the activity.
The aim is to denounce injustices committed in the judiciary stage and demand the immediate freedom of those who went to United States to prevent new terrorist attacks against Cuba by violent groups settled in Miami.
Jrapko said that several messages of support have been received from that US city mayor's wife Gayle McLaughlin and former legislator from that country Esteban Torres.
The solidarity campaign with the island will continue December 8-9 in Tijuana with a Union Conference, prepared by US-Cuba Labor Exchange organization and attended by delegations from Cuba, Venezuela, Canada, Mexico and United States.
Leaders from the Workers' Central Union of Cuba and the Institute of Friendship with the People, as well as Schwerert and Lozano will be also present in debates. |
