Falling Package of Pot Leads to Drug Bust Associated Press go to original
Gallup, N.M. — An officer with the state Motor Transportation Division didn't have to look hard for the evidence during a routine inspection of a tractor trailer rig at the port of entry here.
A box containing about 50 pounds of marijuana bricks fell on his head Sunday when he opened the truck's rear doors to make sure the cargo of beauty products was properly secured.
The box was one of 50 containing a total of 2,560 pounds of marijuana.
Authorities said the drugs were worth an estimated $6.4 million.
They were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, which will investigate further to determine if any charges will be filed against the driver. |
