Mexican Deputies to Meet World Peers Prensa Latina go to original
Mexico City - Mexican congresspeople will hold inter-congressional meetings with peers from several countries this year, sources of the Chamber of Deputies told Prensa Latina on Tuesday.
Later this month, starting February 17, the 15th inter-parliamentary meeting with Canada will be held, with energy, economic development, security and immigration figuring as main issues in the agenda.
The gathering will be a bright opportunity to exchange views about issues of relevance to both nations, including NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement).
Contacts with US legislators in US territory have also been scheduled for the coming year, with NAFTA and immigration as main issues on the agenda.
Meetings with congress people from Chile and Brazil have been scheduled for April and July, and delegations from the People's Republic of China, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Chamber of Deputies of Romania are expected to visit Mexico.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Relations Committee of the Chamber of Deputies passed an agreement urging the US to stem abuses committed against Mexican immigrants in the US.
