Puerto Vallarta Welcomes the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 Qualifier CONCACAF

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 Qualifier CONCACAF is coming to Mexico. At a recent press conference, Puerto Vallarta was named as a host city for this major International Beach Soccer event - for the first time in history.
 
At a recent press conference, Oscar Rivero Estrada (President of Puerto Vallarta’s Tourist Administration,) Mexico’s National Beach Soccer coach Ramon Raya and the runner-up MVP of last year’s World Cup, Roman Plata, announced that Puerto Vallarta will be the host of a major International Beach Soccer event for the first time in its history.

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 Qualifier CONCACAF is coming to Mexico. At a recent press conference, Oscar Rivero Estrada (President of Puerto Vallarta’s Tourist Administration,) Mexico’s National Beach Soccer coach Ramon Raya and the runner-up MVP of last year’s World Cup, Roman Plata, were proud to announce that Puerto Vallarta will be the host of a major International Beach Soccer event for the first time in its history.

From April 16 to 20, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, USA and host Mexico will try to conquer 2 Berths at the ‘Unidad Deportiva Municipal Agustin Flores Contreras’ for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup that will take place in the French city of Marseilles from July 17 to 27.

USA and Mexico were the winners of last year’s edition and both went on to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2007, where Mexico surprised the world by reaching the final in their first ever participation at a World Cup stage. Mexico eventually lost the final against World Champions Brazil.

"It was a wonderful experience for us as a team and a huge step forward for Mexican Beach Soccer," Commented Ramon Raya. "Now it’s important to keep on working hard and play a good tournament in Puerto Vallarta, to show the world that last year’s performance wasn’t a coincidence."

Major sports brand PUMA has been announced to be the official ball and equipment supplier for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 Qualifier CONCACAF.

The 5 participating teams will round-robin, and this way decide which two teams qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008. The tournament will come to an end on Sunday, April 20th with a clash between host Mexico and USA, the two CONCACAF representatives at last year’s World Cup.

This important event will held in Puerto Vallarta from April 16-20th, 2008. At the championship, two teams from each of North America and Central America will compete to qualify. Mexico

FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup is the most important competition in beach soccer. It was first played in 2005, after FIFA recognized beach soccer as an official FIFA sport.
