It has been a spectacular couple of days in motorsport, with the opening round of the World Super Bike Champs, the Mexican Rally and the World Powerboat champs in Doha.

Citroen driver Sebastien Loeb's championship defence is back on track with a third straight win in rally Mexico.

Loeb finished over a minute in front of Subaru's Chris Atkinson as he chases his fifth consecutive world title.

Series leader Mikko Hirvonen suffered a series of punctures to finish fourth, Loeb is now within a point of the lead after three rounds.

After stalling on the grid, superbike rider Michel Fabrizio received a push start from two other riders. The Italian lost a tyre and his boot but eventually restarted, shortly afterwards Aussie Russell Holland plowed into Carlos Checa.

Max Biaggi later broke his wrist and narrowly escaping a crushing by his flying Ducati, while Aussie veteran Troy Bayliss avoided all the carnage to win both races in his final year of competition.
