War on Crime will be Won with Strategy and Intelligence: President Felipe Calderón Presidencia de la República go to original
| Police command center inaugurated with state of the art technology for combating crime. | | Mexico City - As part of the Federal Government strategy for reinforcing police, President Felipe Calderón witnessed the signing of an unprecedented agreement between the Public Security Secretariat and the State Workers´ Institute for Social Security and Services to enable more police to own their own homes.
As part of the inauguration of the Federal Police Command Center in Iztapalapa, the only one of its kind in the country, this agreement was signed which will provide 22,000 credits for federal police to purchase their homes.
President Calderón declared that this support “is part of government’s permanent effort to offer them a decent salary, work stability and options for professional development.
He said that the authorities will be working to train and provide state of the art technology for a new generation of police. Efforts are also being made to improve the living standards of members of the police force and their families.
In this respect, he said that safety is a vital requirement for living better, which is why structural changes are being promoted in the forces of law and order to improve their capacity for response.
The president declared that his commitment is to provide society with a new generation of police that meet high standards of ethics, training and professionalism, as well as having the best technology for fighting organized crime.
He said that the war against crime will be won with information, strategy and police intelligence, and stressed the importance of the new Command Center´s being in line with Platform Mexico, adding that through a system of informatics and telecommunications, it will provide information and intelligence for the police forces in the three orders of government to combat criminals nationwide more effectively.
Accompanied by members of the Security Cabinet, President Felipe Calderón toured the command and control building of the Operative Coordination Unit where he was given a detailed explanation of the main police intelligence and information work carried out by federal police.
The President subsequently hoisted the flag and toured the training grounds of the special operation groups in charge of detecting explosives, firearms and drugs. |
