Naval personnel located the pleasure boat, rescued crew members and towed Ana-D to safety.

Los Cabos, Baja California - Mexican Navy Personnel belonging to the Second Naval Zone and Naval Sector of Los Cabos, in Baja California Sur assisted two vessels in difficulties last night and early this morning.

The first case was recorded last night, following the reception of a call for assistance by the Naval Staff, reported engine failure on a pleasure boat called Ana-D, with five US citizens aboard, approximately 5 nautical miles northeast of Cabo San Lucas, as a result of which assistance was requested.

The General Staff therefore contacted the Naval Sector to send out a patrol and another smaller vessel to save lives at sea.

On their arrival, naval personnel located the pleasure boat, rescued crew members and towed Ana-D to safety, reaching the Naval Sector installations without further incident.

Last night, a call was received at the Second Naval Zone in Ensenada, Baja California, reporting an incident on a yacht named AMBAR-III, with nine crew members, including Sherry Shaffer, a 56-year-old American woman who was unconscious as a result of having been hit by a rock while scuba diving.

Mexican navy personnel aboard a rescue patrol immediately set out to provide assistance, but the injured woman had already been transferred to a yacht called Renovation, which had first aid equipment, had provided her with oxygen and taken her to the Port of La Paz.

Although the injured woman did not have to be transferred to the Mexican Army's rescue patrol, the patrol escorted Renovation until its arrival in the wharf during the early hours of the morning, where a naval ambulance was waiting to transport Mrs. Sherry Shaffer to a private clinic in La Paz, at her relatives’ request.
