Accompanied by state governor Enrique Peña Nieto, the President declared that although taking electricity to isolated communities is expensive, the aim of his government is to ensure that everyone in the country, however isolated they may be, will be able to have electricity supplies and therefore better living standards.
From Cristina Carpio's home, where he turned on the switch, the President said, “I know that from now on, having electricity in your homes will make an enormous difference, as it has for those of use who have had electricity in our lives all these years.
During his address, Governor Enrique Peña Nieto hailed the President’s commitment to taking electricity to homes in Mexico State, which have totaled 20,000 during this administration.
At another point on his tour in Mexico State, President Calderón led the awarding of Degree Certificates to graduates of Conalep, an institution which, he said, has provided an extremely valuable response, which has enabled young people to train in technical issues for which there is an enormous demand on the labor market.
In the Muncipality of Villa Victoria, he pledged to assign resources to enable the 39 Conalep buildings in Mexico State to reinforce their technical degree courses and improve their facilities and the material in their laboratories.
He recalled that in this state alone, nearly 4,000 scholarships have been awarded to prevent secondary school students from dropping out of school. |
