Buru began what was a thrilling, albeit goal-shy, match with a superb goal, and he ended it with another to earn Brazil a hard-fought 3-2 victory. In between his strikes, an Amarelle double had put Spain ahead, before Bruno equalised for Alexandre Soares' charges. The third period was awash with moments of flair, with the inimitable Brazilians thrilling their large contingent of supporters, who, more importantly, left Prado beach with three points to celebrate.
The other games The first three game's of the day all hung in the balance going into the last third. The ensuing duel between Mexico and Japan was an even tighter affair. El Tri trailed 1-0 going into the final period, but Ricardo Villalobos underlined his worth with a double that led Ramon Raya's side to a 4-3 win. Next up were United Arab Emirates and Cameroon, and with just one goal separating them going into the concluding 12 minutes, the game could have gone either way. The UAE ran riot, though, posting five goals without reply to run out 10-4 winners.
