Sven Feeling the Pressure in Mexico Joseph Caron Dawe - Setanta Sports go to original
| Sven Goran Eriksson | | Sven Goran Eriksson’s short tenure as Mexico coach appears to be in doubt just over four months after the Swede took the job.
The secretary general of the Mexican Football Federation, Decio de Maria, has revealed that he and his colleagues will meet after Mexico’s World Cup qualifier against Honduras on November 19 to discuss the future of the national side’s set up.
Mexico need at least a draw to progress to the final round of the CONCACAF qualifying zone, and after winning their opening three games in Group Two a 1-0 defeat in Jamaica and 2-2 draw with Canada has slowed up their progression.
Eriksson is now feeling the pressure, and De Maria has revealed that nothing less than progression will do.
"There is full support for this process of the national team and we'll meet again after this round of the qualifiers," said De Maria.
"We are focused on the Honduras match, completing this round and making it to the next one."
"We are united in this goal. We are aware of how the recent matches went. We are all demanding the progression of the national team." |
