Mexico’s Emigration Rate Falls for Second Year Amid U.S. Slump Valerie Rota - Bloomberg go to original
Mexico’s emigration rate declined for a second straight year in 2008 as the economy in the U.S. fell into its deepest recession in a quarter century.
Six people left Mexico for every 1,000 inhabitants this year, the national statistics agency said in a statement.
That compares to 9.2 people in 2007 and 10.5 people in 2006.
Mexico tracks emigration patterns from the second half of May to the first half of August during every year.
