Mexico City - The price of diesel will go up again Saturday, in the middle of a strike by fishing sector workers because of the price increase, which makes their work impossible.

The Finance and Public Credit Ministry (SHCP) applied the fourth increase in this year of five cents a liter.

Diesel will go up from the price of 7.48 to 7.53 Mexican pesos (0.54 cents of a dollar).

The cost of diesel this year has been increased in 2.03 percent and the strategy of weekly increases will continue while the selling price in Mexico is less than the one in the US, Mexico’s main commercial partner.

Mexican fishers see their situation as a complicated declne and have warned that if their demands are not heard, the strike will take on a massive scale and reach Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

Ricardo Michel Luna, a leader of the Union of Shipowners of the Mexican Pacific, said that they would go to the Mexican presidential house next week.

The Congress Permanent Commission unanimously approved an agreement Wednesday for the president of the Executive Power to take measures to lower the price of diesel.
